Features
Large Rock Formation / Pinnacle
Description
This is a big rounded pinnacle that rises abruptly from a seemingly featureless bottom (~90 fsw). It was really cool to submerge at the up-current side and "fly" through the kelp until we were swept over the edge where the current was non-existant on the lee side. There wasn't a ton of life but the formation itself was pretty impressive. This is a good site if you have a small charter group or don't want to run too far from Friday Harbor.
Special Restrictions:
Probably only want to dive off a live boat here. Anchoring could be tough and it might be impossible to make it back to the boat in the currents that rip through San Juan Channel. Kelp could be a hazard on top of the pinnacle.
How to get there:
Breakfast Rock is a pinnacle located in Griffin Bay, just south of Friday Harbor on the east side of San Juan Island. It can be located by the kelp growing from the top of the pinnacle in about 20-30 fsw.
